VDC Technician

Position: Full time

VDC Technician

 

 

Background

  • Works under general supervision of the Engineering Manager in a c-GMP regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards.
  • Preparation of three dimensional structural and mechanical designs using Revit software.
  • Preparation of 2D construction drawings in accordance with standard company computer- assisted design (CAD) procedures.
  • Desire to work in an owner design/ build industrial manufacturing environment.

Tasks

  • Ability to visualize and create 3D models, components and environments utilizing Revit software
  • Prepare detailed technical drawings of structural, process & utility piping and electrical (concrete, HVAC and piping desired) designs according to specifications and sketches provided by engineers
  • Review and interpret project specifications for the purpose of creating construction drawings
  • Incorporate appropriate standards of practice and convention into drawing layouts, nomenclature, details and labels
  • Coordinate with and consult with production, maintenance, and engineering to design, lay out or detail components and systems
  • Ability to take field measurements and model as-built conditions
  • Gather field information- including detailed dimensions- to assure accurate documentation
  • Review and analyze design specifications, sketches, drawings and data to assess factors affecting designs
  • Frequently interact with engineers and technical staff to assess drafting needs and provide updates on status of drawing requests
  • May interact with outside contractors and outside technical staff to provide, acquire or exchange design/ drafting information
  • Ability to adapt old infrastructure for facility upgrades
  • Interpret drawing markups and implement drawing revisions provided by technical reviewers

Specifications

  • Associate's degree in CAD technology
  • Three (3) or more years of industry related experience, including 3D drawing

 

  • Knowledge of:
    • Theories, principles, methods and procedures of computer assisted design (Advanced level)
    • Mathematics and statistics (Broad level)
    • MS Office software package

 

  • Skill in:
    • Working effectively and efficiently on multiple projects
    • Effective, disciplined and demonstrated documentation
    • Proficient with VDC software tools and methodologies; specifically, AutoCAD and Revit
    • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability
    • Working effectively in a team environment, including in- depth collaboration across multiple departments and levels
    • Responding with flexibility to rapidly changing demands

 

  • Ability to:
    • Read and understand construction plans and instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
    • Work with a high degree of accuracy and detail
    • Perform field investigations within a chemical manufacturing plant
    • Maintain a proactive and positive work attitude
    • Communicate effectively face-to-face, in groups and via telephone and written communication
    • Work for long periods of time at a computer workstation
    • Perform low impact physical tasks
