Regional Sales Manager

Position: Full time

Background

  • Works under general direction of the North American Sales Manager.
  • Accountable for achieving sales goals through the development of new customers and expansion of the product line within the existing customer base.

Tasks

  • Sells to new and existing customers, seeking to expand Jost's share in markets served
  • Works closely with the other members of the Sales team to provide useful forecasting information to Operations
  • Works cooperatively with colleagues to meet growth targets of the Company;
  • Develops and maintains customer relationships through personal visits, telephone calls and email contacts
  • Performs as first line of contact for customers with respect to technical support
  • Facilitates development of new products by qualifying customer needs, documenting specifications and technical requirements, collecting market data
  • Projects positive image of the company in all dealings with customers, suppliers, trade groups and regulatory agencies; conducts business in accordance with all applicable laws and highest ethical standards
  • Performs as customer liaison for other organizational functional groups, such as Laboratory, Operations & Accounting
  • Assists in establishing sales objectives for the West Coast territory in cooperation with the Sales Manager
  • Represents the company in trade groups, at trade shows and conferences
  • Establish personal networks and maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies; reviewing professional publications

Specifications

  • BS in science-related field preferred
  • 5 years direct sales experience to major chemical industry accounts required; West Coast region preferred
  • Knowledge of:
    • Sales/marketing practices (Advanced level)
    • Chemistry (Basic level)
    • MS Office computer package (Advanced level)
  • Skill in:
    • Effective (being direct and concise, listening effectively) oral and written communications in English
    • Maximizing revenue and gross margins
    • Results-oriented and taking initiative
    • Self-control, maintaining calm, bouncing back
    • Project management
    • Consultative and multi-function (e.g., R&D, quality, manufacturing, senior management) selling
  • Ability to:
    • Develop and maintain client relationships, including hosting entertainment
    • Effectively use data to drive improvement
    • Lead customer projects from conception to commercialization
    • Closely monitor customer performance issues and give prompt attention to client needs
    • Work independently with self-motivation
    • Present analyses to various audiences (detailed and executive summaries)
    • Adapt to rapidly changing priorities based on business needs
    • Must be willing to travel to grow the territory
