Position: Full time.

Overview

  • Works under general direction of the CEO/President in a c-GMP regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Leadership Team on strategic business decisions.
  • Experience in facility design requirements to meet cGMP and a variety of food safety standards (e.g. FSSC, GFSI, HACCP).
  • Leads Project Engineering team in delivery of complex and challenging projects.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing project timing and strategies, managing budgets and timelines, and driving the successful completion of projects.

Tasks

Management Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the project engineering team to deliver successful projects by defining the scope and deliverables and leading team to complete projects within budget and defined timelines.
  • Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate project risks, and make necessary adjustments to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and timelines, and report on project status and progress to all stakeholders monthly and quarterly.
  • Oversee project assignments for direct reports by coordinating with Engineering Leads to guide accountability and support for successful project completion.
  • Develop and deliver annual employee reviews and provide constructive feedback to support the professional development of all team members.
  • Review, track and approve all department spending.
  • Manage relationships with contractors and vendors, ensuring their compliance with project requirements and timelines.
  • Communicate capital expenditure plans with the Maintenance team both formally and informally.
  • Ensure compliance in food safety (FSSC), HACCP, and/or GFSI guidance and how it relates to facility design and improvements. Develop improvement and expansion plans to meet ever evolving standards.
  • Support Quality Assurance efforts as a food safety SME and assist in developing, reviewing and approving new policies, procedures, standards, and validation documentation.

High Level Strategic Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to develop and drive the short and long-term strategic plan for Jost.
  • Develop and implement project strategies, plans, and schedules in collaboration with other departments, stakeholders, and in alignment with the company's strategic plans.
  • Develop company-wide capital expenditure plan aligned with the strategic goals of the company including Jost's overseas manufacturing facility and other major capital investments.
  • Develop and manage department spending budgets and timelines.
  • Report on budget spending status to the Leadership Team at quarterly board meetings.
  • Implement a multi-phase, multi-year project implementation plan based on short and long-term strategic plans.

Specifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in project engineering or management
  • Master's in Business Administration (MBA) (desired)
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large teams in the execution of complex engineering projects, preferably in the manufacturing industry

Knowledge of:

  • Theories, principles, methods, and procedures of engineering (Advanced Level)
  • Mathematics and statistics (Advanced Level)
  • AutoCAD Software (desired)
  • Process and Instrumentation Diagrams - nomenclature and interpretation
  • Revit 3D Software (desired)
  • MS Office software package

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse engineering team
  • Working effectively and efficiently on multiple priorities and a variety of tasks
  • Effective, disciplined, and demonstrated documentation with attention to detail
  • Working effectively independently and in a team environment, including in-depth collaboration among all departments within the organization
  • Responding to rapidly changing demands
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization, customers, and vendors

  • Design and manage projects
