Process Development Engineer

Background

• Works under general direction of the Engineering Manager
• Tasks and duties are associated with identifying, testing and implementing new processes and process technologies. The objective is to develop new products and optimize cost, quality and safety of current products

Tasks

• Identifies new technology and tests for plant/lab utilization
• Provide expert process engineering technical assistance to Chemical Engineers(includes planning/ implementing investigation and analysis in problem areas or areas of significant opportunity for process improvement)
• Generate cost data reporting
• Troubleshoot problems with manufacturing processes
• Work and mentor
• Works with vendors on equipment and testing
• Sets up and conducts tests for new process opportunities
  • Assemble special raw materials/ equipment needed for trial
  • Define any additional QA or other testing required
  • Hold process review prior to plant trial
  • Conduct progress meetings as needed during tests
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise
• Performs documentation of plant tests including
  • Follow change control procedures as required
  • Prior to plant tests, review lab tests and process documentation
  • Prior to plant tests; SOPs and Batch records
  • Plant test results
  • Following plant tests, modify SOPs and Batch records as needed
• Compliant with safety and environmental regulations
• Anything other tasks deemed necessary by Management for the betterment of Jost operations

 Specifications

• BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or science-related field
• Three to five years of experience in process development engineering
• Knowledge of:
  • Theories, principles, methods and procedures of chemical engineering (Advanced level)
  • Mathematics and statistics (Advanced level)
  • Manufacturing
  • MS Office software package
• Skill in:
  • Working effectively and efficiently on multiple projects at once
  • Effective, disciplined and demonstrated documentation
  • Working effectively in a team environment, including in-depth collaboration between development and process divisions
  • Responding to rapidly changing demands
• Ability to:
