Preventative Maintenance Technician

Background

• Works under general supervision of the Maintenance Manager in a GMP regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards
• Performs facilities and mechanical preventative maintenance service in an industrial setting to ensure continuous operation of machinery and mechanical systems. Employees regularly exercise independent judgment to perform functions assigned

Tasks

• Plan, schedule and perform preventative maintenance (PM) required on all mechanical systems, production equipment and components; follow diagrams and sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer instructions and engineering specifications
• Replace work components before mechanical breakdowns occur
• Maintain PM logs on all equipment and systems; prepare mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends
• Control downtime by informing production workers of routine PM techniques; monitor compliance
• Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate needed equipment parts and supplies; place and expedite orders; verify receipt
• Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
• Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs
• Troubleshoot malfunctions
• Take direction from Industrial Technicians and assisting in other activities as assigned
• Maintain safe and clean working environment

• High school diploma or GED
• 3-5 years maintenance or construction experience, manufacturing environment preferred
• Knowledge of:
  • Basic levels of mathematics and English comprehension
  • Moderate level of machine diagnostics
  • Broad level of safety, health and environmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures
• Skill in
  • Maintaining mechanical and technical aspects of manufacturing equipment
  • Organization and self-motivation
  • Reading drawings, service manuals and blueprints
• Ability to:
  • Set priorities and deal with uncertainties
  • Work in extreme cold and hot (120F) environments, in and outdoors
  • Comprehend and follow oral and written English instruction
  • Lift up to 50 pounds and drive fork truck in safe and efficient manner
  • Follow establish policies and procedures
  • Work independently with a team environment to assist others as needed
  • Operate and maintain wide variety of maintenance tools and equipment
  • Exhibit manual dexterity, perceptual speed and extent flexibility
