Position: Full time

Job responsibilities:

  • Manage workflow, prioritize responsibilities to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely for approximately 400 hourly and salary employees on a weekly and bi-weekly basis.
  • Enter payroll deductions and earnings codes into the payroll system (ADP), as needed.
  • Process wage/salary change requests.
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
  • Process terminations and pay out accrued unused PTO according to policy.
  • Import all payroll data and accruals to the general ledger. Reconcile payroll related general ledger accounts.
  • Complete year-end activities including W2 balancing, file validation, and release.
  • Organize completed payroll records; file and maintain internal documentation on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure timely response and resolution of payroll related issues and questions.
  • Stay on top of local, state, and federal laws relating to payroll.
  • Work closely with the HR department on cross-departmental projects and tasks as needed.
  • Work with continuous improvement mindset to proactively identify process improvements and resolution of issues.
  • Make sound decisions and recommendations based on balanced consideration of facts, priorities, resources, constraints, and alternatives.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned or as responsibilities dictate.

Job Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of payroll experience.
  • Knowledge of payroll policies and basic accounting procedures including month-end close.
  • Working knowledge with payroll system and timekeeping system (experience with ADP strongly preferred but not mandatory).
  • Previous work experience in Accounting or degree in Accounting strongly preferred.
  • FPC, CPP or APA certification a plus.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, with high volume and versatility.
