Packaging Manager

Position: Full time

Background

  • Works under general direction of the Plant Manager in a c-GMP regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards
  • Employees allocated to this position are responsible for all aspects of the packaging operation including production, safety, data accuracy, interior housekeeping and quality assurance, which satisfies production and customer demand. They exercise wide latitude of judgment in managing multiple projects and related activities

Tasks

  • Establish objectives and key performance indicators of packaging operations which comply with business goals; identify issues effecting efficiencies and assist in developing solutions
  • Oversee packaging operation performance and customer service results; ensure packaging operations meet production execution goals by managing resources efficiently
  • Supervise, evaluate and take counseling/disciplinary action to encourage professional development of assigned staff
  • Assure equipment uptime and maximum capacity utilization
  • Follow and ensure compliance with safety rules, cGMPs, SOPs and batch records, and product quality
  • Maintain quality standards for incoming materials, ensuring stringent adherence to quality standards, norms and practices; identify gaps and take corrective action
  • Carry out continuous improvement in existing packaging processes and packaging materials, incorporating feedback from plant analysis and customer complaints; provide Plant Manager with cost saving initiatives; and lead implementations
  • Sourcing of new vendors for packaging materials and developing them consistent with business demands; develop and maintain system of metrics tracking and reporting that identifies spending, opportunities and savings by assigned area/site
  • Define and prioritize tasks/elements (scope, time, costs, quality, communication, resources, contracts, risk and integration) needed to complete assigned projects to manage spending on assigned goods and/or services; ensure complete and timely project documentation
  • Keep accurate records and file proper reports
  • Keep management informed of progress, issues and resource requirements for assigned tasks/projects
  • Manage assigned inventory of supplies and equipment

    • Develop and manage customer/ stakeholder relationships, including negotiation
