Background

• Works under direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager in a GMP regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards
• Installs mechanical insulation of industrial maintenance repairs. Work is performed based on verbal/ written work orders which may include guidelines and drawings, and tasks do not typically require exercising independent judgment

Tasks

• Installs industrial insulation on steam, condensate, and water (hot/chilled/process/cooling tower), pipe and fittings, process tanks and equipment and HVAC ducting and equipment
• Works with industrial insulation materials including Foamglas, polyisocyanurate and elastomeric foams, Styrofoam, and fiberglass; anchors/secures insulation including waterproofing, vapor barriers and PVC/CPVC/metal jacketing
• Performs routine maintenance/repair of existing insulation systems
• Functions as a helper to pipefitters, ironworkers and maintenance mechanics on new installations and repairs of existing systems
• Applies company insulation material standards and creates material lists/ quantities as needed for specific projects
• Performs required tasks safely and on-time
• Transports/ organizes various items (e.g., tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) to ensure availability of materials to efficiently execute work
• Responds to urgent situations to resolve immediate safety concerns

Specifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Zero to three (0-3) years' experience in insulation, industrial setting preferred
• Training/ experience in installation of industrial insulation systems and industrial maintenance work preferred; experience in industrial sheet metal work a plus
• Knowledge of:
  • Arithmetic and Geometry (Basic level)
  • Standard practices, methods, materials, and tools of the insulating trade
  • Industrial safety, health and environmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures (Advanced level)
  • Skill in:
    • Planning and installing industrial insulation systems
    • Organization of tools and materials
    • Use of standard tools and equipment of the insulating trade
    • Functioning independently and within a team environment
    • Understanding drawings, instructions and service manuals
    • Ability to:
      • Work in extreme cold and hot (120F) industrial environments
      • Work from oral and written instructions, sketches, and diagrams in English
      • Lift up to 50 pounds and drive fork truck in safe and efficient manner
      • Work safely from ladders and scaffolds
      • Follow established company policies and procedures
      • Operate and maintain wide variety of maintenance tools and equipment
      • Exhibit manual dexterity, perceptual speed and extent flexibility
      • Adapt/ respond to rapidly changing priorities based on business needs
      • Pass pre-employment physical with drug screen and physical capabilities tests
