Industrial Maintenance Engineer

Background

• Works under general direction from the Plant Manager in a GMP regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards.
• Broad responsibility to provide industrial maintenance support, technical expertise, and guidance for those engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures and equipment.

Tasks

• Collaborate with management to establish priorities and address needs of the maintenance department and production facility with an emphasis on machine reliability and customer needs
• Work with maintenance staff to determine the presence and availability of critical spare parts, accurate engineering drawings and parts lists.
• Work to improve upon the preventative maintenance program and help the company move towards more predictive maintenance.
• Provide technical expertise related to equipment function and repair procedures such that it positively impacts availability and maintainability of facility.
• Troubleshoot utility and process equipment that is in need of repair.
• Performs limited detailed design and review of mechanical and fluid system designs and installations.
• As needed, direct workers to complete maintenance tasks and projects to include aspects of welding, pipefitting, painting, electrical and industrial maintenance.
• Establish, evaluate or adjust work procedures to standardize in-depth repairs and meet production schedules.
• Analyze and resolve work problems; assist workers in solving problems
• Perform or direct general plant maintenance (corrective and preventive tasks) as needed
• Inspect completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications and standards; ensure repair documentation is maintained
• Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations
• Requisition tools, equipment and supplies
• Any other tasks deemed necessary by Management for the betterment of Jost operations

Specifications

• S. diploma required, supplemented by advanced engineering/ industrial mechanics training; B.S. degree in Engineering preferred
• 5 or more years experience in a manufacturing environment; previous supervision experience preferred
• Knowledge of:
  • Mechanical Seals, Fluid Pumps, Bearing Assemblies, Machining/Fabrication Techniques, Power Transmission, etc.
  • High level mathematics and English comprehension
  • Comprehensive level of electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems
  • Advanced level of safety, health and environmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures

• Skill in:
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical and technical aspects of manufacturing equipment
  • Reading drawings, service manuals and blueprints
  • Organization and self-motivation
  • Negotiations and cost-consciousness
• Ability to:
  • Train, supervise and motivate the work of others
  • Comprehend and interpret oral and written English instruction
  • Write routine reports and correspondence
  • Deal with problems involving several variables in multiple situations
  • Work in cold and hot (120F) environment
  • Lift up to 50 pounds and drive fork truck in safe and efficient manner
  • Operate and maintain wide variety of maintenance tools and equipment
  • Exhibit manual dexterity, perceptual speed and extent flexibility
  • Adopt to rapidly changing priorities based on business needs
  • Pass pre-employment physical with drug screen and physical capabilities test
