Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The primary purpose of the Environmental Health & Safety Manager is to provide leadership and direction to assure that Jost is compliant in the areas of Environmental Health & Safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures policies and programs are in place for compliance with OSHA standards and environmental requirements.
- Develops and implements location EHS procedures.
- Serves in a technical advisory and senior leadership
- Analyzes and communicates EHS trends
- Performs safety/environmental audits of the location.
- Coordinates Industrial Hygiene monitoring program.
- Reviews projects for EHS impacts and management of change requirements.
- Reviews new products for EHS impacts and communicates EHS risk issues to new product project teams.
- Coordinates chemical tracking and SDS management system.
- Develops implements and conducts EHS training necessary to maintain regulatory compliance for the location(s).
- Develop and update EHS training curriculums to meet location requirements.
- Maintains OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping compliance.
- Coordinates location(s) emergency response drills and training.
- Monitor RCRA program including hazardous waste removal vendors, and assist location personnel in consolidating hazardous wastes
- Collaborate with location resources / contractors to maintain a safety equipment inventory for the location. Including appropriate performance specification of materials.
- Ensures compliance with sewer use and water discharge guidelines (local/state compliance).
- Coordinates required environmental analytical testing record keeping requirements.
- Maintains an EHS compliance calendar for all required regulatory and policy activities.
- Serves as the site liaison and contact for internal and external EHS agencies.
- Ensures incident investigations are conducted by appropriate location resources for EHS incidents and near misses.
- Collaborate with engineering/facilities for location Loss Control Insurance program application including inspections and corrective action activities.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and location management on Return to Work programs for work related injuries
- Manage the site access control and camera system
- Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: |
Bachelor's degree in EHS or related Science field is preferred, Equivalent experience in EHS practice is considered. |
|
Experience: |
A required minimum of 7 years' experience in a chemical related manufacturing industry with direct responsibility for Health, Safety, and Environmental and 2 or more years of EHS leadership responsibility. High familiarity with OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations and GMP procedures. |

Skills/Qualifications: |
Thorough understanding of EHS procedures; analytical and problem solving skills; supervisory skills and experience; strong communication skills (speaking and listening); knowledge of EHS regulation and best practices; technical writing; conflict resolution skills; computer literate; team building skills; a desire to develop others through coaching and facilitation. Preferred knowledge and understanding of applicable global regulations and GMP requirement. |

Competencies: |
Basic management skills to include formalized methodologies, written and verbal communication skills, and strong business acumen. Experience with leadership skills and ability to manage complex operations and problem solving activities. Incumbent will be required to adequately function with basic software programs (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.). |
