Electrical Supervisor

Background

  • Works under general direction from the Plant Manager in a GMP regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards
  • Broad responsibility to provide electrical maintenance support and supervision for 10 direct reports engaged in maintaining and repairing electrical equipment, distribution, and controls along with assisting in new capital projects

Tasks

  • Manages a team of electricians
  • Works closely with Electrical Engineers, Project Engineers and Maintenance Manager to provide support on new projects along with repairs
  • Maintains budget over department, including but not limited to overtime, purchases, inventory
  • Provide technical expertise, equipment-based or repair technique based, which impacts availability and maintainability of facility (e.g., troubleshooting equipment problems, evaluating equipment design relative to its intended purpose)
  • Directs the analysis of mechanical and operational equipment problems
  • Plan, organize, coordinate and oversee day-to-day maintenance and facility activities dealing with the electrical department
  • Assist in the hiring of candidates
  • Develop and prepare work schedules for crew and maintain coverage for plant operations 24/7
  • Assist in staffing activities for department; evaluate employee performance and recommend wage adjustments or change of status; initiate plans to motivate workers to achieve goals
  • Provide for continuous improvement and training in the department
  • Create, implement and maintain preventative maintenance program of production including inspection of plant equipment
  • Oversee software tools for PMs, prioritization of repairs, documentation for audits
  • Track work order completion metrics for the electrical team
  • Prioritize repairs and assignments daily that it relates to production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment; establish and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules
  • Analyze and resolve work problems; assist workers in solving problems
  • Perform general plant maintenance (corrective and preventive tasks)
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications and standards; ensure repair documentation is maintained
  • Assist with facility maintenance
  • Lead maintenance team to observe all safety programs
  • Monthly team meetings
  • Represents the company's position and interest in dealing with outside contractors, vendors
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew; actively support and provide leadership for company's initiatives; routinely focus on employees and customer needs
  • Work with Project Engineers and Management with Capital projects and allocations of resources to complete projects by agreed upon timelines
  • Assist Purchasing with inventory of appropriate Requisition tools, equipment and inventory replenishing system for parts

 

Specifications

  • S. diploma required, supplemented by advanced engineering/ industrial mechanics training; B.S. degree in Engineering preferred
  • Seven (7) or more years experience in a manufacturing environment; previous supervision experience preferred
  • Knowledge of:
    • High level mathematics and English comprehension
    • Comprehensive level of electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems
    • Advanced level of safety, health and environmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures
  • Skill in:
    • Negotiations and cost-consciousness
    • Troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical and technical aspects of manufacturing equipment
    • Organization and self-motivation
    • Reading electrical and mechanical drawings, service manuals and blueprints
  • Ability to:
    • Train, supervise and motivate the work of others
    • Comprehend and interpret oral and written English instruction
    • Write routine reports and correspondence
    • Deal with problems involving several variables in multiple situations
    • Work in cold and hot (120F) environment
    • Lift up to 50 pounds and drive fork truck in safe and efficient manner
    • Operate and maintain wide variety of maintenance tools and equipment
    • Adopt to rapidly changing priorities based on business needs
    • Pass pre-employment physical with drug screen and physical capabilities test
