EHS Training Support Specialist

Position: Full time

Background

  • Reports to the Plant Manager in a c-GMP regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards.

  • This person shall perform all duties required to provide compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This includes maintaining policies and procedures consistent with these requirements.

  • Employee focus and has knowledge about chemicals, environmental, safety and human health.

Tasks

  • Assist in conducting training classes for the company on topics related to all regulatory and organizational requirements as outlined by the EHS Manager; includes new and current employee training.

  • Implement and maintain internal control procedures consistent with organizational requirements of local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Conduct full site inspections governing workers health and safety. Suggest corrective actions if necessary. Report back to the Plant Manager if enforcement is needed.

  • Assist with the reporting requirements with regards to local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Define, identify, and prioritize projects and tasks in relationship to safe work environment.

  • Maintain all Safety Data Sheets for the organization for all imported products within the organization. This shall be completed closely in conjunction with the Plant Manager to ensure overall compliance.

  • Interact with the local police and fire department during emergency situations on an as needed basis only.

  • Assist in the Plant Manager in conjunction with the Human Resource Department to ensure all applicable requirements are met for the organization for workers compensation.

  • Assist departments and plant sites on daily safety and health items.

  • Ensure continuous improvement of the safety culture within the organization.

  • Attend project related meetings to determine EHS involvement. This shall include the review of new products, equipment and processes for potential hazards and recommend modifications before introduction.

  • Assist in the investigation of incidents and/or injuries within the organization.

  • Manage and stock the inventory for all safety and first aid cabinets for the organization.

  • Maintain currency in the profession regarding local, state, and Federal regulations.

  • Any other tasks deemed necessary by Management for the betterment of Jost operations


Specifications

  • S. degree or above in Science, Environmental management, Engineering, Occupational Safety or Health (or a related field). Work related experience in a Chemical manufacturing environment shall also be considered in lieu of degree.

  • At least two (2) years of progressively more responsible work experience and/or on-the-job training that provided knowledge of generally accepted principles, theories and practices used in a chemical manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of:

    • Federal, state and local SHE regulations (Thorough level)

    • Office methods and procedures

    • MS Office software package

  • Skill in:

    • Training needs assessment, design, delivery and evaluation

    • Working effectively and efficiently on multiple projects at once

    • Working effectively in a team environment, including in-depth collaboration between production and process divisions

    • Responding to rapidly changing demands

  • Ability to:

    • Process divisions.

    • Provide leadership in delivering effective and efficient EHS services

    • Manage projects and coordinate them with other organizational units.

    • Train and influence others in EHS related activities.

    • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, within all levels of the organization.

    • Assess risk and develop appropriate mitigation approaches.

    • Exercise judgment while being insightful, logical and methodical.
