Works under general direction of the Global Research Director in a c-GMP regulated manufacturing environment operating under Q7A standards. Employees in a position at this level exercise some degree of independence in conducting a wide range of research analytics requiring expertise in application, adaptation of research theory, analytical technique, and instrumentation to produce desired results. Efficient multitasking is required to facilitate rapid and effective response to multiple projects either independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities
Analytical Research and Method Development
- Perform research regarding new technology, methods, and instrumentation to improve productivity, accuracy, and quality of analysis for research, in-process and finished good products.
- Analytical method development and validation lead
- Facilitate cross-training for all research and QC (if need be) personnel on analytical instrumentation techniques, methods, and operation.
- Method transfers and training of methods and techniques to QC department.
- May perform work related to the next lower level in this series as needed
Quality Improvement
- Assist in QA investigations stemming from customer complaints and non-conforming product.
- Conduct research on complaint/OOS material and assist in root cause analysis/corrective action.
- Collaborate with CAPA owners on Investigation of non-conformance.
- Assist in investigations into non-conforming or under-performing products
Technical Support

- Communication with customers through either sales, marketing, or research management regarding the general performance of Jost Chemical's product line in a timely manner including recommendations on product choice, resolving problems, and providing solutions.
- Interface with, instruct and learn from, production and project engineers, sales and marketing, customers, and quality control chemists.
Expected Qualifications for Consideration
- Professional level chemist (MS or PhD preferred)
- Two (2) years analytical method development required
- Expert Knowledge of GC-MS, LC-MS, or LC-MS/MS Preferred
- Working knowledge of analytical instrumentation including AA, GC, LC-MS/MS, A-IC, C-IC, TM-IC, XRD, TGA, DSC, SDTA, SEM, SEM-EDS, SSA, RS, Optical Microscopy, S.A., Particle Size (Mesh/Alpine/Ro-Tap/LS), Powder Characteristics, FTIR, etc.
- Working knowledge of compendia including USP, FCC, NF, ACS, EP, JP, BP, GB, etc.
- Working knowledge of cGMP
