Jost Chemical has been in business since 1985, attracting great Engineers and Scientists along with others to continue to grow a well-known chemical company.  We want to keep that momentum with adding this position to our staff. 

Background

  • Works under general direction of the HR Director/Manager
  • Working closely with Department Leads to seek out, interview and screen applicants; to fill existing and future job openings and promote career opportunities within an organization

Tasks

  • Staffing
    • Recruit qualified applicant pool of adequate size for job opening(s), work with managers to define candidate qualifications, identify source(s) and implement recruitment plan (such as writing and placing ads, coordinating job fair activities)
    • Perform duties related to applicant processing and screening (initial screening and reference/ background checking, evaluation of qualifications with respect to specifications, substantive structured interviewing, employment eligibility)
    • Administer appropriate standardized tests and recommend qualified candidates to respective departments for more detailed assessment
    • Recommend appropriate changes in HRM systems and processes to promote greater efficiency, cost savings, or other benefits to Organizations
    • Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, along with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Training
    • Participate in career development issues, discussing career paths with line managers and recommending suitable candidate for promotion
    • Help develop and modify training programs
  • Administration
    • Monitor, evaluate and maintain position and job series profile information
    • Assist in data collection procedures, prepare and analyze reports such as salary survey data, hiring data, training needs assessment or benefits usage, costs of employee benefits proposals, and past, current or future issues and demands
    • May perform duties related to development, maintenance and/or analysis of existing HRIS
    • Compose correspondence requiring knowledge and interpretation of policies and procedures
  • May perform duties as assigned to next lower level position in the series
  • Any other tasks deemed necessary by Management for the betterment of Jost operations

Specifications

  • BS in Human Resource Management or a closely related field. A Master's degree in HRM or a closely related field may be substituted for the one (1) year required experience listed below
  • At least three (3) year of work experience and/or on-the-job training that provided knowledge of generally accepted principles, theories and practices used in human resource management
  • Knowledge of:
    • Human resource practices and procedures (Broad level)
    • Federal, state and local laws, rules and/or regulations affecting HR administration (Broad level)
    • Mathematics (Basic level)
    • Office methods and procedures (Broad level)
    • MS Office and Lotus Notes software package
  • Ability to:
    • Work independently with sound judgment
    • Direct the work of others
    • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a wide variety of people
    • Multi-task and work with frequent distractions
    • Understand and interpret written procedures and guidelines
    • Assist in formulation/revision of HR policies and procedures
    • Operate electronic and/or standard office equipment
