  • Works under general direction of the Sales Director
  • Identify business development needs that require immediate action
  • Prospecting new business and customers through development of new products


  • This individual will continue to focus on critical business development needs, wants and requirements from Jost clients and team members
  • Identifies opportunities and supports projects to enhance or create business strategies, and is able to quantify the potential economic impact
  • Meet and initiate relationships with key customers, work with them and understand their needs
  • Collaborate with senior staff to in depth evaluation of current product offerings and potential projects
  • Continuous meeting with key leadership on potential opportunities
  • Develop a program to evaluate current projects and potential ones
  • Develop scope and time frames
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new requests, exploring opportunities
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Establish personal networks and maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Develop a concept and bring it to reality
  • Identify future market needs and develop real solutions to fill those needs


  • BS in chemistry or related science field, or advanced business degree.
  • Five (5) years experience including business-to-business market development
  • Flexible to changing priorities, project scopes, and deadlines.
  • May involve domestic and international travel
  • Knowledge of:
    • Sales/marketing communication mediums practices (Advanced level)
    • Chemistry (Broad level)
  • Skill in:
    • Oral and written communications (being direct and concise, listen effectively)
    • Ability to make presentations, internally and externally
    • Maximizing revenue and gross margins
    • Results- orientation and taking initiative
    • Generating business leads and building relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners


  • Ability to:
    • Demonstrate strong presence and networking skills that cultivate relationships into high opportunities
    • Closely monitor performance issues and give prompt attention
    • Demonstrate a dedicated sense of ownership, urgency and follow through with a focus on customer-driven results
    • Assess risks and make well-reasoned decisions
    • Present analyses to various audiences (detailed and executive summaries)
    • Work collaboratively with others throughout an organization
    • Communicate effectively internally and externally
